The towns of the Amalfi Coast

Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and the wonders of Conca dei Marini, within easy reach of the hotel.

Timeless towns

The Amalfi Coast is a succession of towns perched on the rock, each with its own character. From Hotel Belvedere, in Conca dei Marini, they are all easy to reach: here are the ones not to miss, with our tips for visiting them at their best.

The Emerald Grotto

A short walk from the hotel, it is a sea cave where sunlight, filtering through the water, turns the walls emerald green. Discovered in 1932 by the fisherman Luigi Buonocore, it holds ancient stalactites and an underwater nativity scene in Vietri ceramic.

Our tip: visit in late morning, when the light is strongest. Reached by boat or via stairs and a lift from the coast road.
The Cathedral of Sant'Andrea and the square of Amalfi
4 km · 10 minutes

Amalfi

The ancient Maritime Republic gives its name to the entire coast. Its heart is the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea with its grand staircase and the Cloister of Paradise; all around, alleys, workshops and the tradition of Amalfi handmade paper.

Our tip: our minibus takes you to Amalfi, avoiding the problem of parking in the centre.
The pastel houses of Positano cascading to the sea
16 km · 30 minutes

Positano

The coast's postcard: pastel-coloured houses cascading down to the sea, fashion boutiques and the large Marina beach. A maze of flower-lined steps that deserve to be wandered slowly.

Our tip: in the warm season it is best to arrive by boat, to avoid traffic on the coast road and arrive from the sea.
The towers of Villa Rufolo in Ravello overlooking the gulf
15 km · 35 minutes

Ravello

Suspended above the gulf, it is the town of music and gardens. Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone offer flower-filled terraces overlooking the void, among the most famous views in Italy. In summer it hosts the renowned Ravello Festival.

Our tip: set aside half a day and stay for sunset, when the light over the gulf is magical.
The Fjord of Furore with the bridge and the beach among the rocks
5 km · 15 minutes

The Fjord of Furore

A spectacular fjord set between two rock faces, with the famous bridge that crosses it and a small hidden beach. Once a fishing village, today it is one of the most photographed spots on the coast.

Our tip: a few minutes from the hotel, perfect for a half-day combined with the Emerald Grotto.
